Here is a little sample of my writing…

I am accessing joy more often these days. I frequently recognize it as a rolling wave of sensation emanating from the heart. A field of energy that quickly expands to my whole body allowing my mind to temporarily relax its grasp and come into union.

A warm presence accompanied by a felt sense of gratitude, clarity and expansiveness. A bed of warm fuzzy feelings that springs my mind to a place where anything is possible… and precisely because it feels possible, it is possible.

In these moments of joy, my inner compass feels intimately intwined with the events and objects appearing around me. I feel in sync.

At the same time, I spend a lot of time lost in story. I feel caught between one thing and another. Suspended in repeating patterns. Confronted by mental entities that yearn for my attention. My awareness gets drawn out into the world by competing forces that challenge my presence and invite distraction.

A natural part of being. Yet, within these states contain some of the most important lessons available to learn. Lessons that can be softened and integrated with sustained and focussed attention.

This past year I have grown to really appreciate all shapes that these stories take. Recognizing all mental forms as teachers and every fellow brother and sister as a powerful alchemist of human experience. I might not always be present. I might not always feel expansive. But when I take a moment to pause and breathe, I remember who I am. And when I remember who I am, joy is just around the corner.
